ABC News’ Paula Faris and Ross Eichenholz report:

Three years after Michael Jackson’s death, his daughter Paris Jackson says she’s still coping with his loss but also dealing with grown-up problems like having a security detail and coping with bullying.

“I just like, remember something, and I smile,” she told Oprah Winfrey in the interview which aired on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” Sunday night.

The 14-year-old invited Winfrey into her home and her life, and in many ways, she’s like any other teenager. She’s switched from homeschooling to attend high school, hangs out with friends and reveals that she has even dealt with bullying.

“People have tried [to bully], but it doesn’t always work,” she said. “At school and some people try to cyber bully me. They try to get to me with words, but that doesn’t really work.”

When asked by Winfrey if she thought her peers were jealous, Paris said: “Maybe, I don’t know.”

Jackson’s daughter first entered the spotlight after the King of Pop’s death in June 2009, stepping up to the microphone at his memorial service and sharing her grief with the world.

“I just wanted to say, ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” the then 11-year-old said as tears welled in her eyes and brothers Michael Joseph Jr., and Prince Michael II, looked on. ”And I just wanted to say, I love him so much.”

Since then, life for Michael Jackson’s daughter has been anything but ordinary. Because of the paparazzi and the public’s interest in her, Paris has security with her around the clock, which she calls “unfortunate” and says her friends sometimes find “creepy.”

“They think it’s kind of creepy, but some of them don’t really care,” she said.

While Michael Jackson was often criticized for his unorthodox parenting choices – notably making his kids wear feathered masks or veils in public — Paris says her childhood was shockingly normal.

“I was really confused. I didn’t get why I was wearing a mask. But I understand it now — why my dad would want our faces to be covered. When we went out without him we wouldn’t be recognized, and we could have a normal childhood,” she said.

“Our dad was a really normal father when he was with us,” she said, naming Chuck E. Cheese’s and Toys R Us as some of their favorite places to go.

Now, Paris is following in her father’s footsteps — sort of. She’s chosen to pursue acting and will star in her first flick, a fantasy movie, “Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys,” due out in 2013. As she branches out on her own, she says it’s the memories of her ordinary life with her famous father that continue to drive her.

Being one of the most famous teenagers in the world doesn’t guarantee popularity, as Paris Jackson can attest.

The 14-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson appeared on Oprah’s Next Chapter Sunday, where she opened up about being bullied by her classmates at L.A.’s prestigious Buckley School. (Famous alums include Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, both 31.)

“People try, but it doesn’t always work. [It happens] at school and some people try to cyber bully me,” Paris admitted. “They try to get to me with words, but that doesn’t really work.”

Host Oprah Winfrey, 58, then asked if her classmates might be jealous, given her father’s legendary career. “I don’t know,” Paris said sheepishly.

The aspiring actress is, however, happy to no longer be home-schooled. “It’s more normal. It’s more fun,” she said. “The social life has gotten better. I mean, there’s drama, but. . .”

Paris also explained why she and her brothers, Prince, 15, and Blanket, 10, were forced to wear masks in public as children. “I was really confused. I didn’t get why I was wearing a mask,” Paris told Winfrey. “But I understand now why my dad would want our face to be covered. Like, when we went out without him, we wouldn’t be recognized, and we would have a normal childhood.”

She added: “Our dad was a really normal father when he was with us. We would get grounded if we did something bad.”

Like Michael, who passed away in June 2009 at age 50, Paris has her sights set on show business; she’ll make her feature film debut in the movie Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys.

“It’s fun. You can take on another character,” Paris said of her acting ambitions. “I think that’s just so awesome.”

Michael Jackson’s beautiful 14-year-old daughter, Paris, has admitted that she is bullied in school.

In a new interview with Oprah Winfrey on her OWN program “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” Paris explained, “People try, but it doesn’t always work. At school and some people try to cyber bully me. They try to get to me with words, but that doesn’t really work.”

Paris admits being the King of Pop’s daughter has made it tough for her to make friends and she has to be weary of their possible ulterior motives. “If I feel someone is being fake to me, I will just push away,” she told Oprah.

Paris even talked about the surgical masks her father would make her and her brothers wear whenever appearing in public. She admitted being as perplexed as we were at the time, but age has given her some perspective on what her father was trying to do and it makes sense now.

“I understand it now – why my dad would want our faces to be covered. When we went out without him we wouldn’t be recognized,” she explained.

Paris said such precautions are the reason she had a “normal childhood, including trips to the children’s arcade and restaurant Chuck E. Cheese’s.”

“He told us that when he was younger he didn’t really have a childhood,” she revealed of her famous father. “He would always be stuck in the studio singing while the kids were out playing. He wanted us to have that.”

If you thought you were confused the first time you saw Michael Jackson’s young children wearing masks in public, then spare a thought for the kids themselves.

In a new interview with Oprah Winfrey, Paris Jackson opened up about how it felt to be subjected to the face-covering paraphernalia, what sort of parental punishment Michael used to mete out, and why he was, in the end, just your typical, “normal” dad.

“I was really confused, like I didn’t get why I was wearing a mask,” the 13-year-old told Oprah. “But I understand it now, why our dad would want our face to be covered, so we went out without him, we wouldn’t be recognized and we could have a normal childhood.”

The idea of maintaining some semblance of normalcy was an important one in the Jackson household, and a notion that frequently came up during the interview.

“He did,” she said, when asked if Michael wanted his kids to have a so-called normal life.

“He had his doubts, because he told us that when he was younger he didn’t really have a childhood. He’d always be stuck in the studio singing while other kids were out playing. And he wanted us to have that…Chuck E. Cheese and Toys ‘R’ Us were our favorite places to go.”

Cut to today, and the Jackson trio of Paris, Prince Michael and of course Blanket are still acutely aware of their loss.

“Now I see other kids and their parents and I compare them to my dad. Our dad was a really normal father when he was with us. We would get grounded if we did something bad. He would ground us. He wouldn’t call it grounding; he’d just say, ‘You’re on punishment.’ Sometimes we’d be on punishment a lot. Mostly me and Blanket, because me and Blanket would always fight.”

MORE: Michael Jackson’s Mother Katherine Misses Him “Every Day”

However, that sibling rivalry seems to have tapered off, as now Paris and Blanket are closer than ever.

“Prince has started to drift off; he’s a teenager, he’s a teenage boy, he’s gonna do that. But me and Blanket have found a lot of things in common, more things than I thought we did, so me and him have gotten a lot closer.”

After seeing Paris Jackson and her brothers on a Jet Blue flight last Christmas, I’ve felt like I was in on a secret: Michael Jackson’s children have an enormous capacity to act like regular kids. I mean, she’s a “regular kid” with extraordinarily mesmerizing blue eyes, a tragic past and a lead role in an upcoming movie, but you get my drift. If you watched her interview on last night’s Oprah’s Next Chapter you might agree with me. Or disagree, because the 14-year-old also showed us that she’s incredibly strong and self-aware for her age. Anyway, here are some great, super-normal things we learned about Paris:

“People have tried [to bully me] but it doesn’t always work,” Paris said about the “drama” she faces in school. “A lot of people don’t like me. … Kids talk so bad behind my back.” We want to give these jealous girls quite a talkin’ to right now. She’s not allowed to date yet, but she can “date in groups,” like at the mall. (I freaking love that Oprah asked her this.)

She loves acting because “you can take on a new character.” What teenage girl doesn’t want to try on a new persona for size once in a while?

Though their dad used to put them “on punishment” for fighting, Paris and Blanket are closer now. Prince has “started to drift off,” but his sister wisely chalks this up to him being a teenage boy.

Whenever she hears a song of her dad’s playing somewhere, “I just start to dance,” rather than cry. Unless it’s “You Are Not Alone.” And OK, that made us cry on the spot.

Though missing her dad “never gets easier” and memories of him come to her all the time, she told Oprah, “I think I’m doing all right.”
